2023-24 GNAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Award Winners Announced

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its 2023-24 Women’s Indoor Track & Field major award winners on Thursday afternoon.

The winners were recognized for their performance throughout the entire indoor season, including the 2024 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The honorees were selected by a vote conducted by the league’s five indoor track & field head coaches.

Colby-Sawyer’s Ashley Keleher was recognized for her ability in the running events by being named the Track Athlete of the Year, while Saint Joseph’s (Maine) Brooklyn Goff’s strong ability in the jumping events earned her Field Athlete of the Year honors. Taking home the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year honor was Aleyo Amasa-Titus from Regis. Meanwhile, Emmanuel selected as the Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year and Regis earned the Institutional Sportsmanship award.

In addition to this year’s award winners, the medalists in each event at the 2024 GNAC Championships were recognized as All-Conference performers and one student-athlete from each team was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

 

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Ashley Keleher, Colby-Sawyer

Keleher was fantastic in sprinting events this year for Colby-Sawyer, especially in the 400m dash where her top time of 57.07, ranked her in the top-30 on the NCAA Division III Indoor Qualifying List. She qualified for the finals in the event at both the NEICAAA Championships and the Division III New England Championships. At the GNAC Championship meet, she scored 24 points in running events, winning the 60m and 200m dash, while also participating in the 4x400m relay for the Chargers. She clocked in at 7.98 in the 60 and 25.76 in 200. She was named GNAC Track Athlete of the Week six times (weeks ending Dec. 3, Dec. 11, Jan. 21, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, and Feb. 11).

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Brooklyn Goff, Saint Joseph’s (Maine)

Goff was a strong performer in the high jump and long jump this year, recording the top marks in the conference this year. Her long jump distance of 5.20m (17’0.75”) was a New England qualifying distance and was nearly two-tenths of a meter better than any other conference competitor. At the GNAC Championships, she took home the gold in the event with a mark of 5.01m (16’5.25”). She also finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.51m (16’5.25”). Goff was also the top GNAC performer in the pentathlon with a score of 2717.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Aleyo Amasa-Titus, Regis

Amasa-Titus had an outstanding rookie year for Regis as one of the top performers in the conference. The first-year sprinter was second on the GNAC Performance List in the 60m, 200m, and 400m dashes, while also competing in the horizontal jumps. At the GNAC Championships, she took gold in the 400 with a time of 1:02.01 and earned a second gold as part of the Pride’s 4x400m relay team. She earned silver in the 200, clocking in at 26.62. Amasa-Titus also came home with two bronze medals, placing third in the 60 with an 8.32 finals time after running an 8.17 in preliminaries and a long jump mark of 4.88m (16’0.25”). Her performance was recognized by the conference twice as Track Athlete of the Week (weeks ending Jan. 7 and Jan. 14) and five times as Rookie of the Week (weeks ending Dec. 4, Jan. 7, Jan. 21, Jan. 28, and Feb. 11).
