WOMEN'S TENNIS: Regis' Kiana Thompson Named 2022 GNAC Player and Rookie of the Year

GNAC champion Colby-Sawyer
places five on All-GNAC teams

WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College freshman Kiana Thompson has been voted the 2022 GNAC Women's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Year, as announced by the league office on Monday. The first-year from Boynton Beach, Fla. went undefeated record in both singles and doubles play at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for the Pride.

Thompson was also an All-Tournament Team selection this past weekend as Regis advanced to the GNAC Championship Final at Colby-Sawyer College, which placed five on the All-GNAC teams and captured its second straight GNAC title and third in four years.

Thompson and sophomore teammate Samantha Gevry, a Second Team Singles selection, were also honored as the conference's top First Team Doubles pairing. 

Joining Thompson on the First Team Singles were Colby-Sawyer's Grace Carpenter and Alyssa Owens, Lesley University's Jessica Legendre, Regis' Katelyn Mogelnicki, and Simmons University's Libby Weed.

Lesley head coach Jessica Russo was voted the GNAC Coach of the Year by her coaching peers, as she helped lead the Lynx to their first-ever GNAC Touranment appearance and victory, a first-round win over Eastern Nazarene College.
