Simmons to play Colby-Sawyer in NCAA First Round of Women's Tennis

Simmons Tennis will face off with Colby-Sawyer College in Friday’s NCAA Division III Tournament, held at Amherst College. The Sharks earned an automatic bid to nationals after winning the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament, and have won two of three spring season matches while training for the NCAA, including one 7-2 victory over Colby-Sawyer.

Playing at Amherst in Friday’s opening round of the 48-team, single-elimination tournament will be Colby-Sawyer College and Simmons College, with the winner taking on Amherst Saturday. Also playing on Friday will be Bowdoin College and Castleton State College, with Middlebury College facing that winner in the other Second Round match. Saturday’s winners will play Sunday in the regional finals for a chance to advance to the national quarterfinals at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
