GNAC Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week Report #2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jenna Zup, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., M)

Junior midfielder Jenna Zup netted four goals to register eight points for the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a 2-1-0 week for the Blue Jays. On Tuesday (Sept. 5), Zup found the equalizer twice against intrastate rival Albertus Magnus to help complete a Blue Jays comeback after trailing on two occasions. Then on Saturday (Sept. 9), she notched two more goals in a 5-1 victory over New England College, one of which was the game-winner.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Gaby Baker, Emmanuel (So., GK)

Sophomore goalkeeper Gaby Baker led Emmanuel to a 3-0 victory over conference opponent Regis on Wednesday (Sept. 6). She registered three saves and a shutout for the Saints.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Lulani Haslinger, Johnson & Wales (Fr., F)

First-year Lulani Haslinger was on the scoresheet for Johnson & Wales in their 2-0 week. On Wednesday (Sept. 6), Haslinger scored the game-winning goal – and the first of her career – in the Wildcats 5-0 shutout win at Lasell on Wednesday in a rematch of last season's GNAC Championship. 


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Jazzy Sztyler-Magee, Dean - Posted eight points on four goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week against conference opponents. Scored Dean's second goal and then tied the game after trailing Anna Maria, 3-0. The Bulldogs went on to complete the comeback and win 4-3. Scored the game's first two goals in a 16-second span on Saturday as the Bulldogs cruised to a 3-0 win over Mitchell.

Julia Cafferty, Rivier - Made four saves in a shutout victory at Simmons on Saturday afternoon to give the Raiders their second GNAC win of the week. This was the first shutout victory of her career and only the second clean sheet of her career.

Kaylee Magoon, Rivier - Scored three goals, including the game-winners in both GNAC victories this week. Scored late in the first half against New England College to give the Raiders their second goal to narrowly edge the Pilgrims, 2-1. Found the back of the net twice against Simmons to help put Rivier out of reach from the Sharks and secure a 2-0-0 week in conference play.

Emily DeRoehn, Johnson & Wales - Scored a pair of goals last week for the Wildcats, playing 165 of a possible 180 minutes on defense. Scored the third goal of the match against Lasell on Wednesday before opening the scoring at Elms on Saturday.
