GNAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Report #9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ashley Rufo, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Gr., M)

Graduate midfielder Ashley Rufo showed out on both sides of the field for the Blue Jays this past week. Rufo started the week off with six goals and an assist for seven points in a conference victory over Lasell. Rufo registered an 80.0 percent shot on goal percentage and won 11 draw controls in the win. She followed up against Elms with a hat trick and four assists for another seven points offensively. On the defensive side, she caused six turnovers for the Blue Jays in another GNAC victory. The grad student totaled 14 points (nine goals, five assists), collected seven ground balls, won 18 draw controls, and caused seven turnovers in an undefeated week.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Emma Glyman, Johnson & Wales (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Emma Glyman led the Wildcats at the cage to an undefeated week in conference play. She started the week by shutting down Albertus Magnus in 45 minutes of action in the cage. The junior would follow up with 12 saves against Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in a rematch of last year’s GNAC championship match-up. Glyman proceeded to collect 19 goals while only giving up six goals against Simmons. She went 3-0 with a 4.73 goals against average and a .711 save percentage, collecting 32 saves on the week.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Anna LeGault, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M)

First-year midfielder Anna LeGault provided steady offense for the Blue Jays in undefeated conference play this past week. She found the back of the net four times for four points against Lasell. LeGault proceeded to follow up against Elms collecting seven points off five goals and two assists. On the week, she put up 11 points (nine goals and two assists).


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Livia Fedele, Emmanuel – Scored seven goals and collected five assists for 12 points in a 2-0 week for the Saints.

Madeleine Gould, Johnson & Wales – Notched 17 points from 10 goals and seven assists in a 3-0 week for the Wildcats.

Teresa Kessner, Lasell – Tallied 13 points on 11 goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for the Lasers.

Cassie Kelly, New England College – Scored 11 goals and collected 12 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls in a 2-1 week for the Pilgrims.

Sarah Lachance, Rivier – Collected seven goals and assists apiece for 14 points in an undefeated week for the Raiders.
