2024 GNAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams Announced

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced its 2024 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon. Colby-Sawyer had the most selections this year with seven.

Voting was conducted by the league's 16 women's lacrosse head coaches following the regular season and did not take postseason play into account.

Johnson & Wales and Emmanuel each took home two of the major awards this season. Representing the Wildcats were Maris DiBeneditto, who was named Attacker of the Year and Emma Glyman, the 2024 GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year. For the Saints, it was Madeline Wright and Delaney Brown who were named Midfielder and Defender of the Year, respectively. University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) first-year Anna LeGault was named the 2024 Rookie of the Year. Colby-Sawyer head Coach Emily Dewdney won Coach of the Year honors and Albertus Magnus was the recipient of the Institutional Sportsmanship award.

The full list of All-Conference honorees, the All-Rookie Team, and the representatives on the All-Sportsmanship Team can be viewed below.

ATTACKER OF THE YEAR

Maris DiBeneditto, Johnson & Wales

DiBeneditto was one of the top scorers in the conference this season, producing 54 goals and 14 assists for a total of 68 points. Her goal output ranked her fifth in the league at the end of the regular season and she finished seventh in points. Forty-one of her goals came in conference play, which ranked her third in the GNAC. She was held without a goal on only one occasion this year, against nationally-ranked TCNJ. She played in 15 games during the regular season and had four or more goals in nine of them. She also had five games in which she scored six or more points.

MIDFIELDER OF THE YEAR

Madeline Wright, Emmanuel

Wright was a force in the midfield for Emmanuel this year, finishing the year as one of the league's top goal-scorers. She sent home 61 shots during the regular season, which placed her second on the GNAC leaderboard and ranked her just outside of the top-30 in total goals in all of NCAA Division III. She also added seven assists for 68 total points. Wright was also in the top-10 in the conference in draw controls with 77. She registered at least one score in every game she played in this year and was held to just a single goal only twice. She also had six games in which she scored four or more times.

DEFENDER OF THE YEAR

Delaney Brown, Emmanuel

Brown was a key defensive piece to an Emmanuel defense that allowed just over 8.50 goals per game this season. She was especially skilled at helping her team gain possession as she finished the regular season in third in caused turnovers with 49. Her 2.88 caused turnovers per game also ranked her in the top-30 nationally. Brown also had 52 ground balls, which also ranked her in the GNAC top-10. She caused at least one turnover per game this season and had eight games in which she forced three or more. She also had six games in which she collected four or more ground balls.

GOALKEEPER OF THE YEAR

Emma Glyman, Johnson & Wales

Glyman went 15-4 between the pipes for Johnson & Wales this year, including a 10-1 showing in conference games. She posted a league-best 7.56 goals-against average and also posted a .514 save-percentage. Both marks ranked her in the top-10 nationally on the NCAA Division III leaderboard. In conference only games, she finished first in both categories with a 4.74 goals against-average and a .608 save-percentage, the only save percentage over 60 percent in the league. She had six games with double-digit saves this season and allowed four or fewer goals six times. She was named Goalkeeper of the Week by the conference in the week ending April 21.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Anna LeGault, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.)

LeGault solidified her place not only in the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) lineup, but in the conference as a whole right from the beginning of the season. She finished the regular season as the league's top point-scorer with 88 with much of her damage being done in the assist category. She had 41 assists, which ranked her second in the GNAC and also scored 47 goals, which placed her in the conference's top-10. The Blue Jays rookie was held scoreless only once this season and had nine games with six or more points. She won Rookie of the Week honors four times (weeks ending March 10, March 31, April 14, and April 21).

COACH OF THE YEAR

Emily Dewdney, Colby-Sawyer

Dewdney led Colby-Sawyer to a 12-4 regular season overall with a 5-2 mark in the GNAC North Division, earning the Chargers the No. 3 North seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament. The Chargers were a tough test this year, getting contributions both offensively and defensively all over the field. Their defense was especially troublesome as it led the conference in caused turnovers with 296, including 211 in GNAC contests. They were also towards the top of the league in ground balls and draw controls. The tough defense helped Colby-Sawyer finished with the league's fourth-best scoring defense at 8.06 goals-allowed per game. However, CSC could also find the back of the net, ranking fifth in the conference in scoring offense with 13.81 goals per game. The team also moved the ball well, finishing with a league-leading 7.94 assists per game.
