STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College has announced that David Keenan has been hired as the head coach of the Monks' women's lacrosse program. Keenan takes the reins from Rupert Lewis, who has stepped down from the post after seven seasons at the helm.

Lewis will remain as the head coach of the SJC field hockey program and has assumed additional responsibilities in the athletics department.

Keenan, who joined the women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach in the fall of 2018, has an impressive background - both playing and coaching - in the sport of lacrosse. A Long Island native, Keenan was an All-American goalie at Bethpage HS and went on to play DI Lacrosse at North Carolina State University. He later started the girl's lacrosse program at Lake Region High School and led the Lakers to their first State Championship in 2018.

Keenan graduated from North Carolina State with a BS degree in Agricultural Economics.

"I am very excited to be named as the head coach of the Saint Joseph's College women's lacrosse program," adds Keenan. "It's been a privilege to assist Coach Lewis over the last couple of years and I welcome the opportunity to build on the program that he started.  I'd also like to thank Will Sanborn for his support and guidance throughout this process."
