MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – A day after making history with the first NCAA Tournament win in program history, the 2019 campaign came to an end for the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team. The Wildcats lost a 22-3 decision to the top seed, Middlebury College, on Sunday.

Records:
Middlebury: 18-1
Johnson & Wales: 17-5

Statistical Leaders:
Dani Lydecker (JWU): 2 Goals
Maria Patane (JWU): 1 Goal

Of Note:
Middlebury got the first goal of the game in the opening minute, but JWU responded 26 seconds later when Dani Lydecker found the back of the net.

Unfortunately, the Panthers rattled off 16-straight goals to go into the half with a 17-1 lead. Middlebury outshot the Wildcats, 30-5, in the opening stanza and doubled-up JWU on ground balls, 12-6.

Lydecker broke through for her second goal at the 22:24 mark of the second half. The third score came from Maria Patane with 6:32 remaining.

Middlebury possessed the ball for much of the afternoon, leading to a 39-13 shot discrepancy.

Head coach Jessica Scannapieco will have to replace a good portion of her offense, including the program's all-time goal scorer Allison Pazienski. JWU does bring back 100-point scorer Lydecker and sophomore classmate Marley Medina who scored 80 points.
