TWICE AS NICE!: JWU Women’s Lacrosse Defeats Lasell, 20-9, for Second Straight GNAC Crown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A second-half surge propelled the Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team to its second straight GNAC Championship. The Wildcats defeated Lasell, 20-9, on Saturday.

Records:
Lasell: 15-3
Johnson & Wales: 17-2

Statistical Leaders:
Maria Patane (JWU): 3 goals, 5 assists
Juliana Giello (JWU): 5 goals
Jordan McComb (LC): 4 goals

Of Note:
Johnson & Wales now waits to find out who it will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The selection show is Sunday at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.

The 17 wins are the most in school history.

Taylor Yandow scored at the 27:47 mark of the first half to get the Lasers out to a quick lead. Raquel Pederzani scored twice and Allison Pazienski found the back of the net twice during a 5-0 JWU run.

Two goals from Maria Patane helped the Wildcats take an 8-1 lead. Jordan McComb scored twice as the Lasers closed within 8-6 at the half.

Jordan McComb scored 30 seconds into the second half to cut the JWU lead to 8-7. From there it was all Johnson & Wales as it outscored the Lasers 12-2 the rest of the way. Juliana Giello scored all five of her goals during the run.

Johnson & Wales had a 39-14 advantage in shots, including 18-5 in the second half, and picked up 23 ground balls, compared to 11 by Lasell.
