Juron Scores 1000th Point In JWU Women’s Basketball’s 51-37 Setback Against Albany Pharmacy

Albany, N.Y. – Johnson & Wales University senior Jenna Juron (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) scored her 1000th career point in the Johnson & Wales University women's basketball team's 51-37 setback on the road against Albany Pharmacy on Tuesday evening.

Juron tallied six points, eight rebounds and two steals while junior Valerie Arce (Providence, R.I.) added a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds in the loss for the Wildcats.

Kelsey Johnson led the way for Albany Pharmacy with 17 points and five rebounds while Rochelle Whitton added 10 points and seven boards in the victory.

Albany Pharmacy jumped out to the early lead and had their first double digit advantage after a layup by Whitton made the score 17-5 with 12:55 left in the first half.  Albany Pharmacy led by as many as 16 in the stanza before taking a 27-19 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

Johnson & Wales chipped away at the lead and a jumper by Arce pulled the Wildcats to aa 35-28 score with  just over ten minutes left in the contest.  That would be as close as JWU would get though as Albany Pharmacy led by as many as 16 down the stretch before taking the 51-37 victory. 

With the loss JWU falls to 1-2 on the year while Albany Pharmacy improves to 5-0 for the season.  The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, November 23rd when they host Curry in a non-conference contest at 3:00 p.m.
