GNAC Softball Athlete of the Week Report #2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hailey Erickson, Johnson & Wales (Sr., INF)

Johnson & Wales infielder Hailey Erickson batted .500/.500/.563 over nine games during Johnson & Wales’ spring trip to Florida. She had hits in all, but one game and had five multi-hit outings. She also scored five times and recorded 11 RBI. She drove in runs in six of the nine contests, including four multiple-RBI games.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Katie Scheid, Johnson & Wales (Jr., P)

Junior pitcher Katie Scheid went 3-1 in the circle for Johnson & Wales this week, allowing just two earned runs in 28 1/3 innings of work. She made four starts on the week, going the distance in all four contests. After surrendering two runs to Sage in her first outing, she went on to allow just a single additional unearned run for the rest of the week. Her lone loss of the week was a tough luck loss to Dominican, dropping a 1-0 extra-innings decision. She would bounce back after that outing to earned two complete game shutouts, defeating Otterbein, 1-0, and Muskingum, 8-0, to conclude the spring break trip. She allowed just 19 hits and struck out 12 in her just over 28 innings of work.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Hayleigh Silva, Rivier (Fy., P/INF)

Rivier first year Hayleigh Silva reached base safely in every game for the Raiders during their spring trip to Florida. She batted .382/.417/.382, starting the week off with hits in nine-straight contests. She had two multi-hit outings, including a four-hit game against Sage. She also scored five times and drove in one run during the 5-5 week.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Paige Scheid, Albertus Magnus - Hit safely in both of Albertus Magnus' wins this week, going 3-for-7 at the plate. Also drove in three runs and scored four times across the two games. Had two steals against Wilmington.

Shay Savoie, Anna Maria - Went 4-for-7 at the plate for Anna Maria, including a three-hit game against Clark. Scored twice and drove in one run, while also stealing four bases on the week.

Emma Lopez, New England College - Produced a .424/.472/.606 slash line for New England College on its spring trip to Florida. hit safely in seven of 10 contests, including three three-hit showings. She produced four runs and 10 RBI during the week.

Bianca Burke, Regis - Reached base safely in alll eight contests she played in for Regis, including finishing her spring break tip on a seven-game hitting streak. She scored in six of the eight contests and also drove in two runs and stole two bases.

Olivia Couto, Rivier - Batted .394/.429/.515 in 10 contests for Rivier. Reached safely in nine of the 10 games, including hits in eight contests. Also produced five multi-hit games, scored three runs, and drove in six.

Madison Pelletier, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Tossed a three-hit shutout with four walks and three strikeouts and did not allow a baserunner past second base in a 2-0 victory over Messiah.
