Eastern Nazarene Earns Top Spot In GNAC Men’s Tennis Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – Three-time defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men’s Tennis Champion Eastern Nazarene will look to continue that streak in 2024 as it was picked as the unanimous favorite in the 2024 GNAC Men’s Tennis Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

The Lions collected 25 points and all five first place votes that were cast by the league’s five head men’s tennis coaches last week.

Last season, ENC won all three of its conference matches, earning a 3-0 GNAC record and a 12-6 record overall. The Lions were advanced directly into the conference championship where they swept Colby-Sawyer, 5-0.

The Chargers earned their spot in the championship match by defeating the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in the GNAC semifinal last season. Those two teams were picked second and third in this year’s voting receiving 19 and 16 points, respectively.

Rounding out this year’s poll were Norwich and Albertus Magnus with 10 and five points, respectively.

Some GNAC teams have already begun the non-conference portion of their spring schedules with league competition scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 16. The teams will play a single round robin GNAC schedule with the top four teams qualifying for the 2024 GNAC Men’s Tennis Championship Tournament. The semifinal round of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 with the title match on Saturday, April 27.
