LANCASTER, Pa. - The Johnson & Waes Univerity men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 setback against No. 15 Franklin & Marshall in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday evening at Tylus Field.

In the 59th minute of the second half and with the contest scoreless, a free kick hit off the right post and went back in play to Chris Scott, who hit the ball into the back of the net for the game's only goal.  Johnson & Wales threatened with a late rally, but couldn't capitalize as the Diplomats held on for the 1-0 victory.

Johnson & Wales held a commanding 7-2 margin in shots for the second half with F&M holding an 11-8 advantage in shots for the game. Corner opportunities were scarce throughout, with each team generating only a pair of chances.

Senior Ryan Dzierzawski (Oakland, Mich.) made two saves in the loss for JWU while Trevor Britton notched four stops in the victory for Franklin & Marshall.

With the loss Johnson & Wales wraps up the 2014 campaign with a 15-6-1 record.  The win improves Franklin & Marshall to 16-1-2 and sent the Diplomats into tomorrow's second round matchup against Rochester beginning at 5:00 p.m.
