NEWTON, Mass. – Lasell College Director of Athletics Kristy Walter is pleased to announce that Bill Mason has been selected as the new men’s lacrosse head coach.

“I am very excited to have Bill join our coaching staff as well as our administrative staff,” said Walter. “He understands the Division III philosophy and he has a solid game plan on how to impact the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes. I am looking forward to watching him continue to build the men’s lacrosse program and I am certain that he will be a great representation of our institution on and off of the field.”

Mason takes over the helm of the men's lacrosse program after having spent the past three years at Bates College. At Bates, Mason served as the men's lacrosse assistant coach and defensive coordinator. Mason also coordinated all aspects of recruiting with the Bobcats, and assisted with team travel, daily practice planning, and team community service outreach.

Prior to his stint at Bates, Mason returned to his Alma Matter, Western New England University, where he served as the offensive assistant and recruiting coordinator. Mason guided the 2012 squad to an undefeated conference season, a No. 15 rank in Division III, and an NCAA Tournament bid.

Mason was a three-year member of the Golden Bears men's lacrosse program, and won a Commonwealth Coast Conference championship during his first year in 2009.

In addition to his coaching duties, Mason will also serve as the team travel and intramural coordinator.

"I would like to thank Director of Athletics Kristy Walter and the entire search committee for this incredible opportunity to lead the Lasell College Men’s Lacrosse program. Coach Dunton has built Lasell Lacrosse from the ground up,” said Mason. “I could not be more excited to step in and continue to push the program to new heights. I would also like to thank Coach Klepacki and Coach Lasagna for giving me an opportunity as a young coach and helping me grow to be ready for this opportunity. Lasell is primed to take the next step in the GNAC and I am honored to be a part of this great community.”
