GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Shamar Wilson, Albertus Magnus (So.)

Albertus Magnus sophomore Shamar Wilson earned two medalist honors to open the season for Albertus Magnus. His first medalist designation came in a tri-match with Purchase and Dean on Sept. 6 at the New Haven Country Club. He shot a 78 (+8) at the event, helping the Falcons secure a 319 (+39) team score and the victory. He backed that up the next day at Mitchell Invitational I at Shennecossett Golf Course. He was one of two golfers below par, shooting a 69 (-2) as Albertus scored a program-best 301 (+17) at the event.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Cooper Bertrand, Norwich (Fr.)

Norwich freshman Cooper Bertrand was the Cadets top performer at the Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury over the weekend. He placed 25th in the field of 122 golfers with a two-day score of 149 (+7). He had an impressive 73 (+2) on day one of the event and followed that up with a 76 (+5) on day two.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Shamus McLean, Mitchell - Opened the season by shooting a one-under-par score of 70, taking second place at the Mitchell Invite I held at Shennecossett Golf Course in Groton, Connecticut. Shot a 36 on the front nine and a 34 on the back nine. Matched his best collegiate score.

Graham Hassan, New England College - Medaled at the 2nd Annual NEC Invitational, leading the Pilgrims to a first place finish among four teams with his 2-under par (70).

Drew Mathieu, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) - Opened his junior season with a medalist honor, and 73 card, in the USM Tri-Match on Friday (Sept. 1) and tied for sixth with a 79 score in the John Queenan Memorial Tournament on Wednesday (Sept. 6). Capped the week by pairing with classmate Alex Beecher (South Portland, Maine) and tying for fourth with a 71 (-1) card in the Ryder Cup format Southern Maine Cup, an event the Monks won with a 209 card, on Saturday.
