Albertus selected second in poll
after earning GNAC's 2021 automatic NCAA bid

WINTHROP, Mass. – Defending league champion Saint Joseph's College of Maine has been chosen as the favorite in the annual Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship Poll, as voted upon by league's six head coaches.

The Monks get set to host the 2022 GNAC two-day, 36-hole tournament this coming Monday-Tuesday, October 10-11, at the Biddeford-Saco Country Club in Saco, Maine. Live scoring will be available, with the champion going on to compete at the 2023 Division III NCAA Tournament in Nicholasville, Ky. by virtue of the GNAC's automatic qualifier.

One year removed from winning the 2021 GNAC Championship at New Haven Country Club in Connecticut, Saint Joe's will look to repeat as GNAC titleholders behind senior Trevor Flanagan and last year's GNAC Championship medalist and Rookie of the Year Drew Mathieu

SJC received 35 points overall in the coaches' ranking, ahead of poll runner-up Albertus Magnus College, which earned the GNAC's 2021 NCAA Division III Tournament automatic qualifier. Albertus earned its first-ever NCAA trip in April 2021 after claiming conference victory at the Granite Links Golf Club that spring.

Elms College was selected fourth in the voting, just one point ahead of Norwich University, which relaunched its men's golf program this fall. With Norwich's rebirth, the Cadets are competing on the links this fall for the first time in 23 years.

Elms, meanwhile, finished fifth at last year's GNAC meet in the Blazers' inaugural year in the GNAC, while Dean College and Emmanuel College rounded out this fall's voting in the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.

2. Albertus Magnus (1) - 31
3. Elms - 21
4. Norwich - 20

6. Emmanuel - 8
