PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Russell Rau, Regis (Jr., F)

Junior Russell Rau ended 2023 with a bang as he was named Most Valuable Player of the Jack Berkshire Classic in Atlanta, Georgia. Rau averaged a double-double (27.5 points, 12.5 rebounds) on 57.9 percent from the floor (22-for-38), 44.4 percent from three (8-for18), and a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe to give the Pride two tournament victories. On Friday (Dec. 29), the junior put up a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds in a close 74-73 victory over Belhaven. The next day, Rau finished off with another double-double (28 points, 12 rebounds) to lift Regis over Oglethorpe.   

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Remijo Wani, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) (Fr., F)

First year Remijo Wani earned all-tournament honors at the Eastern Connecticut State tournament over the break to end 2023. The forward averaged 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals over two games for the Monks. Wani came up three assists shy of a triple-double in a Saturday (Dec. 30) victory over SUNY Poly as he put up 25 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists while adding two steals defensively to lead the Monks.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Deivone Tanksley, Albertus Magnus – Recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a game against Rowan.

Shawn O’Keefe, New England College – Put up 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field while pulling down six boards in 22 minutes off the bench against Curry.

Tyree Mitchell, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) – Averaged 22.0 points on 52.3 percent shooting (34-for-65), 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in a 2-2 week for the BlueJays.
