GNAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week Report #9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Margaret Johnson, Johnson & Wales (Sr., M/F)

Senior Margaret Johnson took charge for the Wildcats offensively this week, collecting nine points in a 2-0 week. On Wednesday (Oct. 25), she scored once in a regular-season finale victory over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). Then on Saturday (Oct. 28), Johnson put together an impressive performance as she netted a hat-trick and assisted once for the Wildcats in a 8-1 quarterfinal victory over Regis.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Courtney Tello, Lasell (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Courtney Tello was unstoppable at the cage for Lasell in a 2-0 week. The junior goalkeeper proceeded to collect 14 saves on the week as 12 of them came in their regular-season finale against Rivier on Tuesday (Oct. 24). In addition, she collected two shutouts, one of which came in the quarterfinal matchup vs Saint Joseph’s (Maine) on Saturday (Oct. 28).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Aubrey Fischer, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., F)

First-year midfielder Aubrey Fischer had herself a week for the Chargers on offense. She collected ten points for Colby-Sawyer in a 3-0 week, seven of them coming from a hat trick and an assist in the regular-season finale against Elms Wednesday (Oct. 25). Fischer also came in the clutch in the quarterfinal matchup against Rivier as her lone assist in overtime was the game-winner for the Chargers on Saturday (Oct. 28).


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Carly Bernard, Colby-Sawyer – Collected three wins and 15 saves, with 13 of them coming from a quarterfinal victory over Rivier.

Ava Pontes, Johnson & Wales – Registered eight points from three goals and two assists as half of them came in a quarterfinal victory over Regis.

Sheridan Blaha, Lasell – Collected seven points this week from three goals and an assist, with three points being in a quarterfinals victory over Saint Joseph’s (Maine).

Jacquelyn Scopa, Lasell – Scored twice for the Lasers in a quarterfinals victory over Saint Joseph’s (Maine).

Makenzie Anderson, New England College – Collected two victories and a shutout on five saves, one of her wins being a quarterfinal victory over Simmons.

Mikayla Vincent, New England College – Scored three goals, including a game-winner in a quarterfinals victory over Simmons.
