PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Graduate student Margaret Johnson collected a goal and an assist to propel the Johnson & Wales field hockey team to a 4-1 win over No. 3 seed Colby-Sawyer Saturday afternoon in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship contest at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

Freshmen Rayne Millett and Ava Pontes, along with sophomore Kameron Marando, also scored goals for the Wildcats, which became the first school since Saint Josephs' (Maine) to win three-straight GNAC titles (2016-19). The Wildcats controlled the contest from start to finish, outshooting the Chargers 18-4.

Johnson scored the only goal the Wildcats would need 2:18 into the second quarter, depositing a rebound into the back of the cage. Less than four minutes later, Millett doubled the lead off a feed from senior Katie Sloan.

In the second half, goals from Marando at 38:36 and Pontes at 40:20 closed the JWU scoring. Colby-Sawyer got on the board with seven minutes remaining in the fourth.

Freshman Sophia Brea recorded two saves in goal for JWU, who will find out where they will head for the NCAA Tournament Sunday night at 10:30 p.m.
