GNAC Baseball Report: Week 8

( FOR THE WEEK APRIL 17 - APRIL 23 )

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Riley Hasson, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., INF - South Portland, Maine) - Batted .600 (9-of-15) with two doubles, one home run and four RBI (.667 OBS) in four games last week, including a road sweep of first-place Lasell. Collected at least two hits in all four outings, highlighted by a 3-for-3 effort against Salve Regina on Thursday. Hasson went 4-for-8 (.500) in Saurday's wins over the Lasers, driving in a pair in the nigthcap.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Nick Choate, Anna Maria (So., RHP/INF - Grafton, Mass.) - Tossed a seven-inning no-hitter against Albertus Magnus on Saturday. Struck out 13 Falcons in the process, while walking only three.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Aidan Vining, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Fr., P - Woburn, Mass.) - Tossed seven innings of one-run ball while striking out eight in a complete-game win against first-place Lasell on Saturday. Allowed just four hits and did not walk a batter to improve to 5-2 on the season.
 

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Tyler Callahan, Norwich (Jr, OF - Arlington, Mass.) - Was a huge factor in the Cadets success this week both offensively and defensively. Hit a two-run single breaking a tie with Rivier in Game 2, after hitting an RBI double in the first game to compliment stellar defensive play.
 
Matt Ingraffia, Norwich (Jr., P - Lake Grove, N.Y.) - Allowed two runs and two walks in seven innings of work while striking out 13. This got him his first win of the campaign and 100 career strikeouts.
 
Jack Mullen, Colby-Sawyer (So., P - Norfolk, Mass.) - Picked up a 4-3 win against Anna Maria allowing just two earned runs in six innings while striking out four.
 
Zachary White, Rivier (Sr., IF - Long Beach, Calif.) - Had the best week of his season, going 6-for-10 with a double and home run with an RBI. Was a perfect 2-for-2 in the Raiders win against Norwich. Hit .600 with a 1.000 slugging.
