Lasell Baseball's Gagnon Signs Pro Contract with Old Orchard Beach Surge

NEWTON, Mass. – Senior Dan Gagnonhas signed with the Old Orchard Beach Surge, a professional baseball club out of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Founded in 2015, the Surge is an independent baseball team which participates in the Empire League, comprised of four teams; the Old Orchard Beach Surge, the New Hampshire Wild, the Watertown Bucks (N.Y.), and the Sullivan Explorers (N.Y.).

Gagnon joins Billy Uberti '14 as the two Lasell players to link up with a professional deal, and is the first Laser to sign a baseball contract in the United States.

On the week of May 22, Gagnon participated in a week-long tryout camp in Georgetown, Delaware. The tryout consisted of 250 players, and 84 players were named to the four teams of the Empire League.

Gagnon capped his Lasell career with a 106 hits, four home runs, 53 RBI's, and 64 runs scored in 113 games played. A two-time All-Conference player, Gagnon was taken as an infielder and will see most of his time at shortstop and second base with the Surge.
