DANBURY, Conn. – The NCAA has announced the eight-team field that will take center stage at the 2015 NCAA Division III New England Baseball Regional, which will be hosted by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) on May 13-17 at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, Mass.

The field of eight, which will set up as a double elimination tournament, features a couple of familiar squads as the University of Southern Maine (31-13) will be making its fourth consecutive appearance at the New England Regional and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will be making its third straight. Southern Maine, the top seed in this year’s tournament, defeated Endicott College in last season’s regional championship game.

The top-seeded Huskies, who are fresh off winning the Little East Conference championship, will take on eighth-seeded Suffolk University (18-24) at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams enter the regional after winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament championship in a 13-inning thriller over Johnson & Wales University.

MIT (25-12), who comes in with the No. 5 seed after winning the New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, will take on fourth-seeded Salem State University at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are fresh off a 25-13 campaign and a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament Championship.

Wesleyan University (28-9) comes in as the No. 2 seed and will take on seventh-seeded Curry College (23-13) on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. The Cardinals are coming off their second consecutive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship while Curry enters the NCAA postseason as the champions of the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Ramapo College (28-14) is tabbed as the No. 3 seed and will meet sixth-seeded Castleton State College (31-10) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Roadrunners received the only at-large bid into this regional championship after finishing third in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and falling to top-seeded Rutgers University-Camden in the conference tournament. The Spartans, who earned a berth into the NCAA New York Regional last season, are coming off a 7-5 win over Husson University in the North Atlantic Conference championship game.
