WINTHROP, Mass. – Sarah Comtois, a Saint Joseph’s College of Maine junior student-athlete, has been appointed to the GNAC Social Media & Championship Specialist internship position, it was announced on Tuesday.

The position is made possible through the NCAA Division III Diversity Funding Grant, as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference continues its efforts to support diversity and inclusion by providing professional opportunities within the college athletics industry.

Comtois will assist GNAC Asst. Commissioner Michael Ghika and GNAC Assistant to the Commissioner Rachel Wyman with the conference’s social media efforts, and will also help serve as an administrator at GNAC Tournament events throughout the remainder of the 2016-17 academic year.

A key member of the Monks women’s soccer program, the Lowell, Mass. native currently serves as a New Media intern with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League. She also works in the SJC Athletics Sports Information office and has interned for the Nashua Silver Knights, a summer collegiate baseball organization.

On the field for Saint Joseph’s, Comtois has registered 10 goals and eight assists for 28 career points in 57 games started over three seasons. She was an All-GNAC Second Team selection this past fall after totaling 19 points on seven goals and five helpers.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
