Rivier's Sister Paula Buley Appointed to Division III Presidents Advisory Group

Rivier President amidst two-year term

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sister Paula Marie Buley, the president of Rivier University, has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Chancellors/Presidents Advisory Group. Her two-year term of service is underway and will continue through the close of the January 2017 NCAA Convention. 

She is one of 22 school and university leaders to serve on the Division III Presidents Advisory Group.

“Sister Paula has such a wonderful grasp on the importance of athletics at the Division III level,” said Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner Joe Walsh. “She will be a wonderful asset to the presidents advisory group.“

Sister Paula had more than 25 years of higher education experience when she began at Rivier in 2012, having spent time in senior roles at Anna Maria College, Mount St. Mary University and Immaculata University before becoming Seton Hall University’s Executive Vice Presidents of Administration.

Sister Paula, who is pictured on the right alongside 2015 GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year Deanna Purcell, received her Ed.D. in Higher Ed from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A.L.S. in Catholic Studies from Georgetown University, and her M.B.A. from Villanova University.

An educator and leader, Sister Paula has a deep appreciation for Rivier’s history, vision and mission. Her professional service includes experiences in the development and implementation of master plans and programs supporting teaching and learning excellence.

Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 12 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 17 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
