GNAC to Host 2014 Professional Development Seminar Wednesday at Anna Maria

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is set to hold its 2014 Professional Development Seminar (PDS) on Wednesday, August 6 on the campus of Anna Maria College in Paxton, Mass.

Approximately 170 coaches and administrators across the conference are expected to attend, as this year’s PDS will focus on academic integration at Anna Maria's Zecco Performing Arts Center.

Registration and check-in for the 2014 GNAC PDS will begin at 9:00 a.m., with exhibitors and vendor tables opening up just prior at 8:30 a.m.

At 10:00 a.m., Anna Maria (interim) President Mary Lou Retelle will welcome the crowd, with award presentations to follow honoring the 2013-14 GNAC Administrative Award winners, Woman of the Year, Commissioner’s Cup winners and Institutional Sportsmanship Award honorees.

Following an NCAA video recapping on-campus integration, Louis A. Pullano, the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at Johnson & Wales University, will serve as the Academic Integration Keynote speaker shortly after 11:00 a.m.

The entire event will be emceed by Doug Chin, GNAC Assistant to the Commissioner.

Following a brief presentation introducing new GNAC staff and specialists, the attendees will then break for lunch and head to preseason meetings with their respective coaches’ or administrative groups.

The GNAC would like to extend a special thanks to Renee Markiewicz, Administrative Assistant and Events Coordinator at Anna Maria, for her collaborated efforts with the conference office in planning the event.

The GNAC would also like to thank Louise McCleary, Director of NCAA Division III, for her office’s efforts in providing a video on academic integration for the PDS.

Rebecca Mullen, recently named as the GNAC’s Special Events Specialist for the 2014-15 year, also played a key role in the planning of this year's PDS.

The 2014 event will serve as the sixth PDS in GNAC history. The conference previous hosted the event in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012.
