Crammer Homers Twice for Lion Win

The Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball team showed heart and promise of what is to come this season even though they lost to a talented Albertus Magnus team 16-4 in their first game of two on March 12th.  Penn State Harrisburg led off with an RBI by no one other than last year's first team all NEAC conference player Travis Crammer (Cerritos, Cal. / Cerritos) to help put them up 1-0 in the top of the first.

This was the last lead the blue and white had the whole game despite starting to get in a rhythm at the top of the 3rd inning when they scored three runs.  Jim Quinn (Thornton, Pa. / Garnet Valley) was an essential piece of the production in the inning by hitting a single to have all his base runners advance giving him an RBI on the day.

In the afternoon matchup,  Penn State Harrisburg was able to bring the fire power offensively which help secure a 9-7 victory over Albertus Magnus.  Again Penn State started hot from the start of the game with Travis Crammer leading off with a solo homerun in the bottom of the first inning to set the mood right for his team.  Colton Houseal (Maytown, Pa. / Donegal) was able to lead the charge in the third inning by bringing in runs to put Harrisburg up 3-0 .  However the Albertus baseball team was not going to give up and they put up 2 runs as well to keep the game close.

The Blue and White started to pull away in the bottom of the 5th inning scoring 6 runs to extend their lead 9-2.  Eric Hoover (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) was able to hit a double into the right field bringing in the 2 runners.  Next up to bat was Colton Houseal who has been one of the impact players in the Harrisburg lineup, hit a homerun to left field bringing in all scorers.

In the top of the 7th there was a bit of a scare when Albertus Magnus started to show signs of a rally.  Penn State Harrisburg was able to finally put a stop to their 5 runs scored to get the win in their double header.

The Blue and White end their Spring Break Myrtle Beach trip with an impressive win and take the mound at In the Net in Palymra against Southern Virginia in CAC play later this weekend.
