Bentley Claims Program Record 15th Win with Sweep of Simmons

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bentley women's tennis team claimed its program record 15th win on Saturday with a 9-0 sweep of Simmons. The team saw 11 different players contribute with a win in either singles or doubles.

Bentley got it started with a sweep of doubles, then won all six singles matches where they dropped just 13 combined games.

Doubles action saw Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) claim an 8-1 victory over Nickie Nguyen and Marissa Johnson in the No. 1 position. Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) and Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) combined for an 8-3 victory over Olivia Lakes and Paola Rios in the No. 2 match, and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Rachel Madden (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) defeated Michelle Medici and Laura Plaza 8-2 in the No. 3 match.

Petrini took her second victory of the day, with a 6-4, 6-3 decision in No. 1 singles. Sophomore Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Johnson in the No. 2 match.

Rachel Hui (Hong Kong/St. Rose of Lima) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) were both 6-1, 6-1 winners. Hui over Medici in the No. 3 match, and Brandow over Lakes in the No. 4 match.

Senior Kayla Anghinetti (Seekonk, Mass./Bishop Feehan) swept to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rios in the No. 5 match, and Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Conn./North Haven) cruised past Plaza in the No. 6 match, 6-0, 6-1.

Bentley finished the regular season with a 15-9 overall record, went 8-4 in Northeast-10 matches in the fall and advanced to the NE10 Championship semifinals.
