Lions Split Second Day in Myrtle

Myrtle Beach, S.C- The Penn State Harrisburg softball team only needed a day to get back to .500 on the year after starting out 1-1. The Lion's won their first game 5-0 against King's (Pa.) and then struggled in their second against Anna Maria.

Harrisburg's first game of the day came easy to the Lion's thanks to scoring all five of their runs in the first inning. Kristen Evans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Dauphin County Technical)  started Harrisburg off with a double, advancing Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area) and Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) to home plate. Up next at bat was Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco)  who reached first base on an error King's. Jackie Furch (Hallstead, Pa. / Blue Ridge) and Evans were able to add two runs to Harrisburg's lead. Parmer scored once again at the end of the first off of a double from Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley).  Hartman took home the win at pitcher by limiting King's to only four hits over four innings. Hartman also had seven strike outs.
 

The Lions struggled in their second game of the day against Anna Maria. Harrisburg was only able to score one run in the fifth before the game ended. Anna Maria went on to win 10-1.

Penn State Harrisburg will have the chance to bring home two more wins tomorrow against Wilkes at 9:30 and SUNY Poly at 1:30.
