Bentley Thumps Simmons 8-1 in Regular Season Finale
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley women's tennis team closed out its regular season by thumping visiting Simmons 8-1 in a non-conference match. Seniors Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills), Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon) all posted victories.
Gianino and Hetyei both won twice on the day, while Yamus won the No. 1 singles match, 6-0, 6-3 over Meg Cokley. Gianino and Hetyei first combined to take the No. 2 doubles match, 8-2 over Katie Crowley and Rachael Downey. In singles, Gianino triumphed in the No. 2 singles match over Theresa Reinhard 6-3, 7-5 and Hetyei topped Crowley in the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-2.
Other singles winners for Bentley were Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) in the No. 4 match by a 6-0, 6-2 score, Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) in the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-1 and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
Bentley finished the regular season with 11-12 overall record after today's victory.
