COLONIE, N.Y. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team fell to the nationally-ranked No. 5 William Smith Herons, 8-0, in its season opener on Thursday afternoon at Afrim's Sports Park in Colonie, N.Y.

"Overall, it was a great battle against a top-ranked team in the country and we fought for the entire 90 minutes. The scoreboard doesn't reflect the tenacity that was seen on the field and I'm very proud of the team for hanging in there. Our backline was composed through it all as this was an exceptional opportunity for the team to experience a challenging level of play.
