GNAC Welcomes Osowski as Social Media Intern

FORMER GNAC INTERNS

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is pleased to introduce Rebecca Osowski as the newest addition to the conference staff.

Osowski will serve as the GNAC Social Media Intern, assisting Social Media Specialist Janard Jones and Senior Associate Commissioner Doug Chin with the conference’s communications initiatives on various social platforms. The position is funded through the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) allocation of the NCAA Division III Strategic Initiatives Grant.

“I am very excited to join the GNAC staff and assist with sharing our student-athlete's stories and other important news from around the conference,” said Osowski. “I would like to thank Joe [Walsh], Doug, and Janard for the opportunity to get my start in collegiate athletics and am grateful for the NCAA's diversity initiatives and helping to provide this opportunity.”

The new hire is a current student at GNAC member institution Lasell, majoring in sports communication with a minor in journalism. In addition to her course work, Osowski is also the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the 1851 Chronicle, a student-run newspaper on campus. In that role, the Westfield, Mass.-native manages a staff of 20 students in the production of a monthly publication.

Her interest in athletics dates back to her time at Westfield High School where she served as the manager of the school’s football and ice hockey teams. Last summer she completed a digital media internship with the Westfield Starfires, a collegiate summer baseball team that plays in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL). With the Starfires, she worked on content creation, including the weekly “Get to Know You” podcast.

This year marks the fifth-straight that that the conference has been able to provide an internship opportunity through NCAA grant funding as Osowski joins a long list of former GNAC staffers who got their start in intercollegiate athletics with the conference.

“We are thrilled to have Rebecca joining us on the Conference staff,” said GNAC Commissioner Joe Walsh. “The GNAC takes great pride in providing young professionals with opportunities to kick off their careers working in college athletics. The Conference is extremely thankful for the grant funding provided by the NCAA and is committed to supporting the Association’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.”

Osowski starts her new role on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
