GNAC Softball Athlete of the Week Report #3

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jennifer Antonowicz, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (So., INF)

Sophomore infielder Jennifer Antonowicz connected her bat with the ball very well this week as the Wolcott, Conn. native slashed an incredible .696/.667/.826 while tallying 16 hits (16-for-23), six runs scored, one double, one triple, five RBI's, and six stolen bases to lead the Blue Jays to a 3-3 mark in Florida. Antonowicz had multi-hit games in all but one contest. Her best performance came from a perfect 5-for-5 at the dish against Alfred State, hitting a walk-off single to secure the win in the process.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Bryce DeGasparre, Dean (So., P/OF)

Sophomore Bryce DeGasparre collected two victories on the mound for the Bulldogs as the Attleboro, Mass. native pitched six total innings in her two appearances only allowing five hits, posted a 1.17 earned run average, and fanned seven batters while only walking two.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Zoe Soule, Simmons (Fr., C/OF)

First-year Zoe Soule led the Sharks hitting .714% at the plate while posting a staggering 1.843% on base plus slugging percentage (OPS) (1.143 SLG%, .700 OBP) against two tough non-conference opponents in MIT and Rhode Island College. In the Sharks second game against MIT, Soule slugged her first collegiate career homerun. Currently riding a four-game hitting streak, Soule drove in three RBI's while also registered three assists in the field.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Sydney Ramos, Dean - Batted 9-for-12 with a .750% batting average while also collecting two stolen bases in a 2-2 week for Dean.

Olivia DeCicco, Mitchell - Continued the blistering start to her season, slashing .500/.500/.583 across four games. DeCicco went 6-for-12, including a double, with two runs scored. Only struck out once and walked once.

Emily Reynolds, Mitchell - Made three appearances in the circle for the Mariners, including two starts, posting a 1.54 ERA in 13.2 innings of work. Reynolds had a 1-1 record, allowing just three earned runs while striking out nine. She began the week by tossing five shutout innings in Myrtle Beach during a 1-0 win over King's (Pa.). Reynolds then came out of the bullpen later in the day, delivering 3.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen to get the win over Gwynedd Mercy. She capped her week by throwing five innings of three run ball against Coast Guard.

Bianca Burke, Regis - Led her team with a .519 batting average (14-27), a .539 on-base percentage, and a .593 slugging percentage. She also scored seven runs and drove in four RBIs during a 3-7 trip in Florida. In the victory over Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.), the senior recorded four hits, including her 12th career triple, which made her the all-time leader in triples for Regis College Softball. She also had two runs and one RBI in the win. Burke capped off the week with three consecutive multi-hit games, including a standout performance in her team's 16-11 extra-inning victory over Penn State New Kensington, where she had three hits, three RBIs, and three runs.
