GNAC Softball Athlete of the Week Report #2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Teagan Buckley, Simmons (Jr., OF)

Junior outfielder Teagan Buckley posted a .407 batting average (11-for-27) with an .892 OPS (.448 OBP, .444 SLG%) as the Barrington, Ill. native guided Simmons to a 4-4 week, while driving in four base-runners and swiping, a team-best, five stolen bases on the week. Over the course of the eight game week, Buckley reached base safely via a base-hit in six of the team's eight games. In a mid-week game against the University of Pittsburgh at Greenberg, she tied her career single-game high going 3-for-4 at the dish with an RBI. In addition, Buckley was outstanding in the field registering 21 putouts.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Skylar Arent, Albertus Magnus (Sr., P)

Senior pitcher Skylar Arent pitched a complete game and earned the victory for the Falcons in the process as the Ridgefield, Conn. native struck out a career-high 10 batters vs. Mount St. Mary's (N.Y.), finishing one hit shy of a no-hitter in the process.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Makenna Lovelette, Anna Maria (Fr., P)

First-year Makenna Lovelette got her first career start on the mound against Houghton she pitched seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts, only allowing four hits. The Enosburg Fls, VT. native also went 4-for-10 at-bat for the AMCATS, posting a .400% batting average.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Taylor Chelak, Emmanuel - Went 8-for-20 (.400% batting average), six of which were RBI's and four of them were doubles, totaling 12 bases for the Saints across a seven-game stretch.

Mady Lyons, Johnson & Wales - Batted .375% with two doubles, one round tripper and five RBI for the Wildcats last week. She laced three hits against Adrian on March 3 before going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against North Central (MN). She reached base safely in six of the eight games last week as she ripped off a six-game hitting streak.

Olivia DeCicco, Mitchell - Slashed .714/.714/1.000 in two games for Mitchell, going 1-1 in the process. DiCicco went 5-for-7, with a triple, one RBI, and four runs scored. She opened the season by going 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored against New Jersey City, before turning in a 2-for-3 performance with a triple and two runs scored against Kenyon.

Hannah Muchemore, Rivier - Slashed .370/.414/.519 in her first week of collegiate softball, joining the Raiders after a four-year basketball career with Rivier. Went 10-for-27 at the plate with two triples, three RBI's, and six runs scored.

Piper Kinney, Simmons - Posted a 2-1 record in the circle, while registering a 2-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, striking out 12 opposing batters and walking just seven. In a 9-5 win over Bluffton, Kinney fanned four to earn her first victory of the season, then picked up her second win of the season in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Neumann where she tossed a completed game. Additionally, she helped her own caused at the dish posting a .360% batting average with a .800 OPS (.360 OBP, .440 SLG%), while driving in five base-runners from the middle of the Sharks batting order.

Gabby Marchial, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Started her career strong, slashing .571/.625/.714, while tallying four hits, three runs, one double, and three RBI's. The freshman had a career day during the Blue Jays win against Alfred State, posting a perfect 3-for-3 mark at the plate, scoring three runs while recording three RBI's.
