GNAC Softball Athlete of the Week Report #6

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gemma Landry, Mitchell (Jr., SS)

Junior shortstop Gemma Landry was a tough out for Mitchell this week as she batted .692/.714/1.154 in four games for the Mariners. She hit safely in all four contests and recorded multiple hits in three of the four. First, she went 5-for-6 in a GNAC doubleheader sweep of Elms on Saturday (April 6). She went 4-for-4 in the late game with a triple, a run scored, and three RBI. She scored three runs in the early game as well. She followed that up by going 4-for-7 in a doubleheader against Dean on Sunday (April 7). Landry recorded two more three-baggers in twin bill, while also scoring three runs and driving in another. For the week, she had seven runs scored and four RBI.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Katelyn Lipsky, Mitchell (Sr., P)

Senior Katelyn Lipsky was dominant in the circle for Mitchell this week as she earned two conference victories. She tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits and one walk across the two contests. She opened the week by going four innings against Elms on Saturday (April 6), allowing two hits and a walk, while striking out five. She then threw four more innings of one-hit ball to earn the victory against Dean on Sunday (April 7). She stuck out five Bulldogs in that outing.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Madison Cole, Mitchell (Fr., C/OF)

Freshman Madison Cole slashed .571/.600/.857 in three games for Mitchell this week. She had a base hit in all three contests she played in and drove in at least one run in each game. Her top performance came on Sunday (April 7) in the late game of a doubleheader against Dean. She went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs. Cole's weekly totals included three runs scored, five RBI, and two walks.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Hailey Laforte, Albertus Magnus - Hit safely in six straight contests, leading to a .412/.421/.529 slash line. Scored three runs in the six games,while also driving in four.

Amanda Penney, Emmanuel - Batted .615 for the week with hits in all four contests for Emmanuel. Had three multi-hit games, scored four runs, and stole a base this week.

Hailey Erickson, Johnson & Wales - Had hits in three of four games for the Wildcats to bat .462/.500/.769 for the week. Recored three extra-base hits, scored one run, and drove in five.

Emily Reynolds, Mitchell - Tossed two fiving-inning complete game shutouts. Allosed seven hits and one walk across the two contests and struck out four batters.

Piper Kinney, Simmons - Struck out a career-high 13 batters in a seven-inning, complete game victory ove Saint Joseph's (Maine). Allosed just one earned run on 10 hits in the outing.
