GNAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #10

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jaylyn Clardy, Mitchell (Jr., G)

Junior guard Jaylyn Clardy was the main orchestrator offensively for the Mariners, leading to a 2-1 week. Clardy averaged 26 ppg on impressively efficient shooting splits (51.1/44.4/91.7) while also grabbing 8.7 rebounds, dishing out 4.7 assists, and adding both a block and a steal per game on the defensive side. The junior collected a double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) and dished out five assists and poked the ball three times in a conference win against Elms on Tuesday (Jan. 16). Clardy then followed up with explosive scoring outputs on Thursday (Jan. 18) and Saturday (Jan. 20) as the junior guard put up 34 points on 11-for-17 shooting, while collecting six rebounds and assists apiece in a non-conference blowout over Wesleyan (Conn.) and then put up another double-double (31 points, 10 rebounds) while adding three assists and blocks apiece against Emmanuel.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mahari Guerrier, Emmanuel (Fr., G)

First year guard Mahari Guerrier cleaned up the glass for the Saints this week. The first-year guard averaged a double-double putting up 10.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week. Guerrier put up 11 points and six boards in their first conference game against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) Tuesday (Jan. 16). Then, he exploded for a career-best 21 rebounds in a conference victory over Mitchell on Saturday (Jan. 20) while pouring in 10 points and collecting a steal.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Justice Washington, Albertus Magnus – Averaged a double-double (17.3 points and 10 rebounds) for the Falcons in a 3-0 week.

Chaz Cullum, Colby-Sawyer – Scored 19.5 points on 50 percent shooting (13-for-26) while collecting six boards, 4.5 assists, and four steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Chargers.

Izaiah Shaw-Glen, Johnson & Wales – Put up 19 points a game on 73.7 percent (14-for-19) and collected five boards and a steal for the Wildcats in a 1-1 week.

Marcus Lewis, Lasell – Scored 23 points on 48.5/55.6/90 shooting splits and snagged down 7.5 rebounds per contest in a 2-0 week.

Wani Donato, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) – Flirted with a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing nine boards while swatting away two shots in a blowout victory over Elms.

Tyree Mitchell, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) – Averaged 20.5 points on 65/37.5/100 percent shooting splits while grabbing 6.5 rebounds and four assists, leading the Bluejays in a 2-0 week.
