GNAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week Report #9

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Justice Washington, Albertus Washington (Sr., C/F)

Senior Justice Washington was very active on both sides of the ball for the Falcons this past week. He averaged a double-double with 17 points and 15.5 rebounds per game, leading Albertus Magnus to an undefeated week. The senior also averaged two blocks per contest on the defensive side of the ball as well. Washington put up 19 points, 16 rebounds, and four blocks in a close road victory over Mitchell on Wednesday (Jan.10) and then followed that up with a 15-point, 15 rebound game in a overtime victory over Saint Joseph’s (Maine) on Saturday (Jan. 13) to keep the Falcons undefeated in GNAC play.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Sean Peterson, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., F)

First year Sean Peterson stepped in and helped the Chargers earn two GNAC victories this week. Peterson averaged 13 points a game on 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from the floor and 75.0 percent (3-for-4) from three and 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from the charity stripe while also collecting eight boards and two assists a game. Peterson poured in a career-high 18 points, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor, and grabbing eight boards in a close victory over Elms. The forward then followed up with eight points, nine boards, and two blocks in another close victory over Dean.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Gabe Armstead, Anna Maria – Put up an average of 23 points on 62.5 percent (20-for-32) and collected seven boards per game in a 1-1 week.

Chaz Cullum, Colby-Sawyer – Averaged 15 points on 52.0 percent (13-for-25) shooting while collecting 4.5 boards, four assists, and 3.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week.

AJ Weston, Dean – Averaged 23 points on 64/80/90.9 percent shooting splits while dishing out four dimes a game for the Bulldogs in a 1-1 week.

Marcus Lewis, Lasell – Averaged 20.5 points on 51.5 percent shooting (17-for-33) from the floor and 42.9 percent from three (6-for-14) while grabbing 4.5 rebounds, and four steals per game in a 2-0 week.

Jaylyn Clardy, Mitchell – Scored 27.5 points per game on 53.1/53.8/82.4 percent splits while collecting seven boards, three assists and three steals per game for the Mariners.

Russell Rau, Regis – Averaged a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds per game while adding a steal and 2.5 blocks per game in a 2-0 week.

John Paul Frazier, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) – Averaged 22.5 points, five boards, and two steals per contest in a 1-1 week.

Lence Altenor, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) – Averaged 17.5 points on 50/45.5/100 percent splits while grabbing 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week.
