GNAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week Report #6

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sheridan Blaha, Lasell (Sr., F)

Senior forward Sheridan Blaha displayed an impressive offensive performance this week for Lasell. On Wednesday (Oct. 4), she netted a hat trick and notched an assist en route to an 11-0 victory over Dean. Then on Saturday (Oct. 7), Blaha duplicated that same performance in a 6-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer. After her stellar week, the senior forward now leads the conference in goals and points.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Courtney Tello, Lasell (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Courtney Tello was impressive once again at the cage for the Lasers. She picked up the victory over Dean in 30 minutes of action on Wednesday (Oct. 4). Then, on Saturday (Oct. 7), she made 10 saves in a 6-1 victory over Colby-Sawyer. She is currently second in the conference in save percentage, goals-against, and goals-against average.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ava Pontes, Johnson & Wales (Fr., F)

First-year forward Ava Pontes found the back of the cage three times this week for Johnson & Wales. On Wednesday (Oct. 4), she scored twice for the Wildcats in a 5-0 victory over Albertus Magnus. Then, she netted the game-winning goal on Friday (Oct. 6) in a rematch of last year's GNAC Championship game against Simmons. She is now fourth in the conference in game-winning goals with three.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Samantha Helwig, Albertus Magnus - Made 36 saves for the Falcons in two games this week.

Makenzie Anderson, New England College - Collected six saves for the Pilgrims in a 2-0 week.

Drea Chin, New England College - Collected nine points for the Pilgrims from four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week.

Frankie Alley, Regis - Registered seven points for the Pride, collecting two goals and three assists in a 1-1 week.

Kylie Coupal, Rivier - Made five saves and collected a shutout for the Raiders in a 2-0 week.

Sydney Spenard, Rivier - Collected nine points for the Raiders from four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week.

Wendy Bowden, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Made 12 saves for the Blue Jays in a 1-1 week.
