GNAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week Report #3

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Abbey Playle, Lasell (Gr., M)

Graduate student Abbey Playle displayed a well-rounded offensive game for Lasell on Saturday (Sept. 16) as the Lasers defeated conference opponent Albertus Magnus, 12-3, to remain undefeated. Playle registered a hat trick and dished out two assists to earn eight points. She currently leads the conference in goals scored (8) and is among the top three in assists with five, totaling a league-high 21 points. 

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Carly Bernard, Colby-Sawyer (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Carly Bernard was instrumental in the cage for Colby-Sawyer. She registered ten saves with a save percentage of .833 in a 1-1 week for the Chargers. Bernard denied four shots in a 3-1 win over Simmons on Tuesday (Sept. 12) and six shots in a close battle on Saturday (Sept. 16) with reigning conference champions Johnson & Wales.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Rayne Millett, Johnson & Wales (Fr., F)

First-year Rayne Millett registered five points for Johnson & Wales in a 2-0 week. Millett scored a pair of goals and added an assist in a 12-0 win at Regis on Wednesday (Sept. 13). She is currently tied for third in the conference in goals scored.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Sabrina Lippold, Colby-Sawyer - Scored two goals for the Chargers, including a game-winner against Simmons, while shining defensively in a 1-1 week.

Sheridan Blaha, Lasell - Registered five points with two goals, including a game-winner, and an assist in a 12-3 win over Albertus Magnus.

Makenzie Anderson, New England College - Made 24 saves for the Pilgrims, averaging 8.00 saves per contest in a 1-2 week. 

Maya Waryas, Saint Joseph’s (Maine) - Scored a hat trick for the Monks in a 3-0 victory over Dean.

Sydney Spenard, Rivier - Registered five points with two goals and an assist for the Raiders, defeating Regis 7-1.

Wendy Bowden, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Stopped 17 shots for the Blue Jays, averaging 8.50 saves per game with a .810 save percentage in a 1-1 week.

Devan Fox, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Notched five points with two goals, including a game-winner, and an assist in a 1-1 GNAC week for the Blue Jays.
