GNAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week Report #2

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Lily Stark, Lasell (Sr., F)

Senior Lily Stark led Lasell to an undefeated 3-0 week, defeating non-conference opponent Framingham State as well as the GNAC's Elms and New England College. She scored two hat tricks this week. First on Monday (Sept. 4), Stark found the back of the net three times to register six points. Then on Thursday (Sept. 7), she netted another hat trick and assisted on one of Lasell's 12 goals in a 12-0 victory over Elms to register seven points, giving her a total of 13 points for the week. Of her six goals, two of them were game-winners.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK

Courtney Tello, Lasell (Jr., GK)

Junior goalkeeper Courtney Tello anchored Lasell in the cage, earning her second consecutive goalkeeper of the week award. Tello is a huge reason why the Lasers are off to an undefeated start. This week, she notched a 3-0 record in goal, registering 10 saves, one shutout, and only allowing one goal in the three contests.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ava Pontes, Johnson & Wales (Fr., F/M)

First-year Ava Pontes racked up eight points for Johnson & Wales on Saturday (Sept. 9) in a 11-0 win over Elms. She scored her first collegiate hat trick and notched two assists. One of her goals was also the game-winner.


WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Hannah Tobey, Anna Maria - Played 135 minutes in the cage for the AMCATS, surrendering only two goals. Made six saves in 30 minutes against Nichols, 12 saves in 45 minutes against Johnson & Wales, and nine saves in a win against Albertus Magnus. Finished the week with a .931 save percentage.

Carly Bernard, Colby-Sawyer - Made five saves in two Charger wins this week. Started the week making all five stops in a 3-2 overtime victory against Keene State, before earning the shutout against Dean.

Aleah Murph, Colby-Sawyer - Scored two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week. Started the week with the opening goal and the game-winning assist against Keene State in a 3-2 overtime win. Followed it up with the game-winning strike against Dean in a 5-0 victory.

Izzy Ward, Johnson & Wales - Collected seven points in a win over Elms. Scored twice in the first half before polishing off the hat trick 3:04 into the third quarter.

Makenzie Anderson, New England College - Backstopped the Pilgrims defense this week, averaging 9.50 saves per game against two GNAC opponents. Made 11 saves against Rivier in a 3-2 win on Wednesday.

Anna Tedeschi, Simmons - Scored the game-winning goals against Albertus Magnus and Rivier. Against the Falcons, scored in the opening four minutes of a 7-0 shutout. Closed out the week, scoring the eventual game-winner as the Sharks begin conference play at 2-0.
