Women’s Basketball Suffers First Loss of the Season

WATERVILLE, ME: Rivier women's basketball suffered their first loss of the season this afternoon at the hands of a non-conference opponent in Colby College.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/12/22

- Score: Colby 69, Rivier 56

- Records: Colby (1-0), Rivier (2-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders held a 20-13 first quarter lead that would quickly flip to see the Mules take a 36-30 score into the half. Rivier would close the game to a tie to end the third quarter at 46 all. The fourth quarter would match the second as Colby would put up23 points to the Raiders' 10 to get the victory.  

- Caroline Smith did it all for the Mules, scoring a game-high 24 points to go along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Carter Mcgloon contributed 15 points of her own, along with six rebounds.

- Hannah Muchemore (Nashua, NH) led the way for the Raiders with 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) put in an additional 13 points and four rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Rebounds: Colby 49, Rivier 27

-  Steals: Rivier 11, Colby 8

-  Shooting Percentage: Colby 37.5%, Rivier 30%

- Rivier women's basketball will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Plymouth State for a 5:30 pm non-conference matchup.
