Tennis pushes past Anna Maria 6-3

Box Score

North Adams, MA- The MCLA Women's Tennis team fell behind early, but rallied to win five singles matches en route to a 6-3 win over Anna Maria this afternoon at the Zavattaro Complex. The win improves MCLA's mark to 6-4 heading into their final weekend of the regular season. The Amcats fall to 1-6 overall.

Anna Maria jumped ahead early on as they took the first and second doubles matches. Trailblazer Rebecca Waterhouse teamed with Anna Despart to earn a key point out of the third spot as they cruised 8-0.

Needing a spark, the Trailblazers depth provided some separation.  The bottom half of the singles draw proved the difference as Emily Deaso, Waterhouse, and Kylie Dumas each won their respective matches in straight sets to put MCLA comfortably in front.  Sarah Murphy earned a point out of the second slot, while Mariza Sfakianaki continued her solid play of late with a three set win over Nicola Zamira.

MCLA has a pair of NAC matches this weekend that will help determine seeding in next weekend's tournament.  They host Johnson State on Saturday and travel to Colby Sawyer on Sunday.
