Pride Fall in GNAC Road Contest

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Regis College men's soccer team fell Saturday to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich 4-0.

In the 23rd minute, the Cadets' Amerle Nemeye was streaking towards the goal with a bouncing ball. Nemeye took a shot but was unable to convert with the attempt going wide off his left foot.

Norwich scored 25:02 into the contest when Matt Bento tried to weave his way through a group of Pride defenders. The Regis defenders were able to knock the ball away from Bento, but Nemeye collected the ball and ran in towards the goal to score.

In the 37th minute, off a free kick from 28 yards out to the right side of the net, Matt Bento collected a bouncing ball in the six-yard box and directed it past the goalkeeper, giving Norwich a 2-0 lead.

The Cadets struck again three minutes later when Alex Brannan hit a free kick across the net in front of the net, and Hunter Lortie then headed the ball into the left side of the net. Norwich led the Pride 3-0 at the half.

In the 54th minute, Joseph Thongsythavong, on the receiving end of a pass from Nemeye, put the ball into the back of the net off his right foot.

Norwich (12-3-1, 7-2-1 GNAC) will begin preparations for their Wednesday, Oct. 30 match against Lasell.

Regis (4-12, 2-8 GNAC) will close out the regular season against Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
