Basile nets career best four goals in 5-1 win over Albertus Magnus

North Adams, MA- MCLA senior Anthony Basile netted a career best four goals as the Men's Soccer team cruised past the visiting Albertus Magnus Falcons 5-1 this evening at Shewcraft Field.  Basile now leads the team with 10 goals on the season as the Trailblazers improve to 8-6-1 overall.  The Falcons drop to 9-7-1.

Basile scored the first goal of the game late in the first half when he headed home a high cross from Khalil Kareh for a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.  The Trailblazers controlled the opening half of play as they outshot the Falcons 16-6, but could only muster the lone goal.

The second half began with a flurry as Basile potted his second goal of the night just 1:27 into the half.  He ripped a shot into the upper right corner for a 2-0 Trailblazer lead.  Just one minute later, Basile would complete the hat trick when Nolan Burke sent in a long pass that Basile corralled and easily slipped it past Falcon keeper Joe Russo making it 3-0.  The onslaught continued when Edward Boateng would convert a free kick from just outside the box in the 49th minute making it 4-0.

The Falcons would answer in the 53rd minute when Matt Mueller would convert a pass from Kaj Djonne cutting the deficit to 4-1.  The score would remain that way until Basile tallied his fourth goal in the 82nd minute to provide the final margin.

Kamron Anderson would collect the win in goal for MCLA stopping three shots for the Trailblazers.

MCLA will wrap up the regular season with a senior day tilt against Framingham State this Saturday at 1pm.
