Women's basketball drops non conference tilt with Suffolk 65-52

Boston, MA- The Suffolk University women's basketball team placed three players in double figures as they defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 65-52 this evening in women's basketball.  With the win, the Rams are now 15-9 on the season while MCLA is 4-20.

Shelby Santini led Suffolk with 15 points.  Jennifer Ruys added 11, while Chelsea Campellone collected a double double effort of 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

MCLA was paced by Kaitlyn Chenevert's game high 19 points.  Kayla Hotaling collected her own double double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.  Brayleigh Hanlon finished with 11 points off the bench.

The Trailblazers started well and led 10-6 early on before Suffolk made a run.  The Rams would embark on a 15-2 run to grab a 21-12 lead with ten minutes to go in the opening half.  The lead would grow to as many as sixteen points (30-14) before MCLA closed the gap before halftime.

MCLA would score the final seven points of the half to get within nine points, 36-27 at the half.  Chenevert started the run with a three pointer and Hanlon closed the spurt with a pair of free throws.

Early in the second half, MCLA would get within four points on a pair of occasions.  The last of which was at 38-34 following Courtney Durivage's jumper with 17:00 left to play.  The Rams had an answer though outscoring MCLA 10-2 over the next five minutes to increase their lead back to double digits at 48-36.  MCLA would get within eight points on a pair of occasions, but couldn't get over the hump.

MCLA will close out the season on Saturday when they host MASCAC foe Salem State at Noon.  The game will mark the final one for seniors Chenevert and Danielle Scolpino.
