Lasers Extend Winning Streak to 11; Defeat Blue Jays 3-0

NEWTON, MA- The Lasell College women's soccer team extended their unbeaten Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) streak to a perfect 10-0 record today with a 3-0 shutout of Saint Joseph College of Connecticut on Columbus Day at Taylor Field.   The Lasers are on an eleven game winning streak, including four consecutive shutouts, and hold an 11-2 overall record.  The Blue Jays settle at 8-4 so far this season with a 6-3 GNAC slate.

The Lasers did not wait to develop momentum over the visitors by scoring just 5:03 into the contest.  Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI) sent a through ball down field to Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) who released from a tough angle along the end line to give the Lasers a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Sam Peck (Woodbury, CT) sent a cross to Mary Farley (Middleboro, MA) who snuck through the defense and converted on the play, boosting the score to 2-0 in the 9th minute.

Lasell's final tally was recorded at 64:11 in the second half of play.  Jamie Harris (Lynnfield, MA) fed Bridget Lynch (Dover, NH) a high, on line pass directly in front of Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Holly Mirabella (Seymour, CT).  Mirabella charged the ball while Lynch slid and drove the shot hard just inside the right post.

A handful of Blue Jays attempted shots, but Lasell's goalie Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) was unbeatable while picking up six saves in the victory.  Mirabella made 10 saves in the setback.

Lasell heads to Clark University on Wednesday, October 12th for a night game against the Cougars. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
