PLAYER/ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Maria Espinosa Lopez, Colby-Sawyer (Fy.) First-year Maria Espinosa Lopez closed out Colby-Sawyer’s regular-season with a pair of victories in each match to help the Chargers complete a perfect 4-0 GNAC season. Espinosa Lopez began the week at No. 2 doubles in a match against Regis on Wednesday (Oct. 4). She picked up an 8-1 win there before earning a 6-1, 6-1 singles win against the Pride’s No. 3. She slid up in the lineup in Colby-Sawyer’s GNAC regular-season finale against Simmons on Sunday (Oct. 8). In that match, she won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and earned another straight-set victory at No. 2 singles. She didn’t drop a game in the singles match, sweeping 6-0, 6-0.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Kiana Thompson, Regis - Enjoyed a perfect week as she helped Regis close out the fall portion of the regular season. Earned a win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, against Colby-Sawyer. Won again at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, and then defeating the No. 1 singles player from University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) without losing a game (6-0, 6-0).

Emilie Lapointe, Simmons - Earned Simmons' lone singles victory against the GNAC top seed Colby-Sawyer. Took the first set with ease, but dropped the second set, 6-2, before edging out the third and deciding set, 6-4.
