GNAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week Report #5

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kiana Thompson, Regis (So.)

Sophomore Kiana Thompson was dominant in victory this week as Regis picked up two team victories. First against Suffolk on Tuesday (Sept. 26), the Pride took an 8-1 decision over the Rams, thanks in part to two Thompson victories. She was victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, before besting Suffolk’s No. 1 singles player in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. She earned two more wins in a conference match on Wednesday (Sept. 27) against Albertus Magnus. Thompson earned an 8-2 decision in doubles and went 6-0, 6-0 in singles.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Emilie Lapointe, Simmons (Fy.)

First-year Emilie Lapoint competed at the top of the lineup for Simmons this week, playing to a 2-2 record at both No. 1 singles and doubles. After falling in two non-conference matches against Eastern Nazarene and Mount Holyoke, Lapointe bounced back for a perfect day against Albertus Magnus. The two teams competed in a doubleheader with Lapointe earning victories in both singles and doubles in both matches.
