GNAC Announces 2014 Woman of the Year Finalists

May 09, 2014STANDISH, ME – Senior designated player Lindsay Moore (Barrington, N.H.) went 3-4 with two runs, a home run and five RBI and senior pitcher Rae-Marie Copan (Newton, Mass.) tossed a two-hitter to propel #3 Saint Joseph’s College (34-4) past #2 Western Connecticut State University (31-12-1), 10-0, in an NCAA DIII Softball Tournament contest at Wellesley College on Friday afternoon.

May 06, 2014CENTERVILLE, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College softball team has been selected as the sixth seed in the upcoming 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship Tournament. The Falcons will head to Northampton, Mass. where they will take on third-seeded Smith College on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

GNAC Four-Peat for Saint Joseph’s College Softball
April 27, 2014STANDISH, ME - Top-seeded Saint Joseph's College (33-4, 20-2 GNAC) defeated #3 Simmons College (27-10, 17-5 GNAC), 4-1, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Championship at Richard W. Bailey Field on Sunday evening. With the result, Saint Joseph's earns an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII Softball Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season.

Kilcoyne Pitches Perfect Game to Lead Emmanuel into GNAC Softball Playoff Berth
April 19, 2014BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman pitcher Jill Kilcoyne (Worcester, Mass.) pitched a five-inning perfect game and freshman first baseman Susie Kieselback (Wethersfield, Conn.) belted two homers to lift the Emmanuel College softball team in a doubleheader sweep over Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon at Roberto Clemente Field.

April 15, 2014NEWTON, Mass. – With her eighth strikeout of the game on Monday afternoon, Mount Ida freshman pitcherNicole Handzel (Palmer, Mass.) accomplished two incredible feats. She completed a no hitter in a 6-0 victory over Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Albertus Magnus, and broke the Mount Ida single season record, with her 109th strikeout of the 2014 campaign.

Taylor Cwalinski Pitches Perfect Game in JWU Softball Victory over Suffolk
April 14, 2014Providence, R.I. – Senior Taylor Cwalinski (Jackson, N.J.) notched a perfect game, striking out 13 of the 15 batters faced in five innings to give the Wildcats an 8-0 win in the first game of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference double header against Suffolk at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Sunday afternoon.

2014 GNAC Softball Pre-season Coaches’ Poll Announced
February 28, 2014BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph’s College (ME) Softball team has been selected as the 2043 GNAC Softball Pre-Season Coaches’ Poll favorite, receiving eight first place votes and a total of 139 points. The Monks claimed their third consecutive GNAC Championship last April and will look to make it four in a row later this spring. Coming in second was Johnson & Wales University with 119 points and three first place votes while Norwich University finished third with 110 points.
