On Saturday, November 2nd, Norwich University will welcome 14 teams from across the Great Northeast Athletic Conference for the 2024 Women’s Cross Country Championship in Northfield, Vermont. The Women’s 6K race is slated to start at 11:15 a.m. The Pre-Championship Poll voting was conducted by the league's 14 head coaches last week.
Defending champions Colby-Sawyer are aiming for their fifth consecutive title, entering as the pre-title favorites with 168 points and 10 first-place votes. Johnson & Wales University follows closely behind in second place with 163 points and two first-place votes, while host Norwich, who finished third last year, is picked to secure the same spot this season with 157 points. Emmanuel projects fourth with 152 points and one first-place vote and last year’s runner-up Regis, picked fifth with 128 points, completes the top five. Rounding out the top ten are Simmons (122), Lasell (117), Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) (108), Rivier (91), and Elms (58) in that order.
The University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) ranks 11th with 51 points and one first-place vote, followed by New England College (48), Mitchell College (47), and Dean College (45) to finalize the poll.
