Emmanuel Women, Regis Men Lead After Day One of GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

GNAC OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

WESTON, Mass. – The Emmanuel women and Regis men finished day one of the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the leaders with five events scored in each competition at the Regis College. The championship meet will continue tomorrow (April 28) at noon.

The Saints women earned 61 points on opening day of the conference championship meet with Regis concluding the day in second with 43. Colby-Sawyer scored 26 points and Saint Joseph’s (Maine) had 16, placing them third and fourth with Lasell earning eight points to finish the day in fifth.

Contributing to that meet leading score were first place finishes in the triple jump and discus. Desiree Robinson won the triple jump with a mark of 11.40m (37’4.75”), while Alyssa French-Graham’s discus throw of 32.18m (105’7”) was good for first in that event.

Regis also had two first place finishers with Samantha Perkins winning the javelin with a throw of 37.58m (123’4”) and Erin Kelley completing the 10K in 41:32.74 to take gold in that event. The Pride also won the 4x800m relay with a time of 10:26.50.

In the men’s competition, the hosts secured 58 points, narrowly edging out second-place contender Saint Joseph’s (Maine) 54 points. Emmanuel scored 34 points on Saturday with Lasell earning six points.

Regis had one individual champion on day one with Justin Thuotte taking top prize in the triple jump. He marked a 13.39m (43’11.25”).

Dylan Dickey had a great opening day of the GNAC Championships as he captured two gold for the Monks. He won the discus with a throw of 35.21m (115’6”) and dominated in his premier event the javelin. He won that event by more that six meters with a distance of 57.82m (189’8”). On the track, Saint Joe’s took first in both the 10K and the 4x800m relay. Ryan Graham was the men’s 10K champion with a time of 36:00.21, while the relay clocked in at 8:25.01.

The preliminaries in the women’s 100m hurdles and the men’s and women’s 100m dashes were also held on Saturday.
